you don’t get a cookie for doing your job

Our Reference supervisor (the non-librarian) is really proud of himself for finding an obscure conference report for a Norwegian patron even though:

  • it’s his job to find thing for patrons;
  • it was listed as cited in the catalog and thus really pretty easy to find; and
  • as soon as he found it he handed it over to me so I can do the actual work of getting it to the patron.

Shit like this makes me so glad I spent several years and thousands of dollars getting a master’s degree. So fucking glad.

UPDATE: he just sent out a library-wide email about his little accomplishment.
